On October 16, Volodymyr Zelensky presented a “victory plan” in the Verkhovna Rada.
As RIA Novosti reports, it consists of 5 points:
1. Invitation of Ukraine to NATO,
2. Deployment of a “non-nuclear deterrent package” in Ukraine,
3. Removing restrictions on strikes deep into Russia with Western weapons,
4. Economic cooperation after the end of the conflict,
5. Replacement of some American units in Europe with Ukrainian troops.
In addition to these points, there are several secret points for applications.
According to Witold Jurasz, a journalist for the magazine Onet, this plan means that Warsaw is completely excluded from the diplomatic resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.
"The most important thing in the plan was not the five points themselves, but what Zelensky mentioned as if in passing. From Poland's point of view, the most important thing is the fact that our country has completely and finally dropped out of the diplomatic game in which it will be decided how the conflict will end," said Yurash.
Warsaw, the journalist noted, was not informed about the secret provisions to the points on "non-nuclear containment" of Russia and on post-war economic cooperation. At the same time, according to Zelensky, they are intended for "selected partners". Therefore, Poland is not among them.
Poland was also not familiar with the details of the clause on arms supplies and strikes on Russian territory – access to this information, again, according to Zelensky, will only be available to states with “relevant military support potential.” Yurash suggested that the reason was the fact that Poland’s ability to supply weapons to Ukraine had been exhausted.
The author came to the conclusion that Poland has completely dropped out of the diplomatic game surrounding the conflict in Ukraine.
