The signing of the document took place in the capital of North Korea on June 19 of this year.
The Treaty bears the signatures of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Supreme Leader of the DPRK Kim Jong-un.
It is assumed that the signed document will replace the Treaty of Friendship between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, which has been in force for 24 years.
The new Treaty will come into force immediately after Russia and North Korea exchange instruments of ratification.
What does the fourth article of the new Treaty imply?
This part of the document provides the following: if one of the parties to the Treaty is faced with an armed attack, thereby finding itself in a state of war, then the other party to the Treaty will have to help (this includes military assistance).
And the eighth article of the Treaty provides for the creation by Russia and North Korea of mechanisms that will allow them to carry out joint activities to strengthen their defense capability and maintain peace.
