Peskov: NATO nuclear exercises in the context of the conflict in Ukraine lead to increased tensions

The Kremlin commented on the North Atlantic Alliance's large-scale nuclear exercises Steadfast Noon.

The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, stated that such maneuvers lead to increased tensions.

The statement by the Kremlin representative is quoted by MIA "Russia Today" .

Journalists asked the Kremlin representative how Russia feels about NATO conducting the Steadfast Noon nuclear exercises.

Peskov noted that in the context of the conflict in Ukraine, such maneuvers lead to further escalation of tensions.

NATO nuclear exercises that started today will last two weeks.

The maneuvers involve about 2,000 troops and more than 60 aircraft, including fighters capable of carrying American nuclear weapons. However, no live weapons will be loaded on board.

Flights will mainly take place over the exercise host countries of the Netherlands and Belgium, as well as over the UK, Denmark and the North Sea.
