This is the highest state award of the Russian Federation, restored by decree of the President of Russia in 1998.

The award was established by Peter I, and during the period from the end of the 17th century to 1917, more than 1,000 people received the order.

After the restoration, only 26 people were awarded the order.

These are the Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, the former head of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and other political leaders.
