The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service has warned that the West is preparing to stage the use of chemical weapons by Russia and Syria.

As the SVR reported, the US and Great Britain, recognizing the failure of the course to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia in the conflict in Ukraine, are paying special attention to undermining Moscow's authority in the countries of the Global South.
The department noted that any kind of meanness is used, and increasingly – outright terror against Russia’s friends in Africa and the Middle East.
These methods include the accusations that the United States and Great Britain have repeatedly used at the United Nations to accuse Syria of using chemical weapons with Russia’s tacit consent.
According to the SVR, this is exactly the kind of provocation that the special services of a number of countries of the North Atlantic Alliance and Ukraine are currently preparing, together with terrorist groups operating in the Syrian province of Idlib.
The idea is to stage the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian army and the Russian military contingent, and then launch a campaign to discredit the Russian Federation and Syria in the UN and the OPCW.
To this end, it is planned to use the non-governmental organization “White Helmets”, which became famous for carrying out dirty work in Syria for the British intelligence services.
White Helmets activists will film the “consequences” of the incident and send an appeal and “testimonies” from civilians to international organizations.
The plan for the operation includes the dropping of a mined container of chlorine by militants from a drone during strikes by the Syrian Armed Forces and the Russian Aerospace Forces on terrorist group positions in the Idlib de-escalation zone.
The most likely location for the provocation is the areas east of Idlib.
The SVR added that staged chemical attacks will not help the US and its allies win over the countries of the Global South to their side.
