Since then, official representatives of the German government and Scholz himself have repeatedly stated that they do not rule out another call.

The German Chancellor last expressed such an intention in June. The Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov then said that a conversation with Scholz was not planned for now.

In early September, the German Chancellor said that the time had come to discuss how to speed up the end of the conflict in Ukraine, and he called for Russia's participation in the next peace summit.
