NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that dialogue with Russia is necessary to end the conflict in Ukraine.
The NATO Secretary General made this statement in an interview with the German publication Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung.
What Stoltenberg said about dialogue with Russia to end the conflict in Ukraine
The NATO Secretary General noted that he maintains faith in the dialogue with Moscow related to defense and deterrence.
He also noted that there is now much less space for such dialogue than in 2014.
One thing is clear: in order to put an end to this war, at a certain point it is necessary to start a dialogue with the Russian Federation again, the head of the organization said, noting that this dialogue should be based on the strength of Ukraine.
Asked what he plans to do after leaving the post of NATO Secretary General, Stoltenberg said that he no longer aspires to high positions and will live in Oslo and write his memoirs.
Earlier, the European version of the American publication Politico, citing sources, reported that Stoltenberg would become the head of the Munich Security Conference.
On June 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin named the conditions for settling the conflict in Ukraine in his speech at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Among them are Ukraine's refusal to join NATO, Ukraine's non-aligned and non-nuclear status, the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbass and Novorossiya, and the lifting of sanctions.
