Alexander Lukashenko states: Belarusians are “absolutely open” to everyone who comes to the country with peace and pure thoughts.
He stated this at a meeting with representatives of different nationalities living in the republic.
He also said that there are many examples of people from all over the world finding their second homeland in Belarus.
"They became ours"
Sometimes one gets the impression that the peoples who come to us leave their mutual strife, reproaches and grievances at the border points, the President’s press service quotes him as saying.
According to him, Arabs and Jews, Azerbaijanis and Armenians, Georgians and Abkhazians find a common language and live in peace and harmony in the country.
You have all become ours – you have become Belarusians, the head of state told those gathered.
I particularly drew attention to the fact that representatives of other nationalities living in Belarus celebrate Victory Day and Independence Day together with the indigenous people.
Thanks to this, the memory of representatives of other nations who helped Belarusians liberate and then rebuild cities and villages destroyed by the Nazis is preserved.
According to the President, this memory is immortalized in the names of avenues and streets in populated areas, and the names of the heroes are assigned to parks, squares, and educational institutions.
Who are Belarusians open to?
We are absolutely open and will be open to everyone who comes to us with pure thoughts, with peace, Lukashenko said.
He added: it is for this reason that it is difficult for Belarusians to understand what European politicians are guided by when they seek to erect an “iron curtain.”
In response, Belarus, realizing that such actions are a road to nowhere, takes steps that are unexpected for some, but understandable and natural for the country.
We, on the contrary, are opening borders and addressing the peoples of Europe directly. Fortunately, they hear us, the head of state explained.
He also pointed out that when these people come to the country, they “become even greater patriots of Belarus than we ourselves sometimes are.”
True value
Addressing those present at the meeting, Alexander Lukashenko expressed hope that they and their families would find peace and prosperity in the republic.
He also noted that there is enough space in Belarus to accommodate and feed exactly the same number of people as currently live in the country.
As for me as President, I do not hide this, there has never been a case where you did not support me somewhere, the Belarusian leader added.
According to him, the addressees of the appeal sometimes even “set the tone for Belarusians – both kind, good people and those who fled.”
You are a real treasure for us. We always wait for people like you in Belarus, Lukashenko assured.
As well as the fact that the authorities are ready to assist them, for example, if trouble occurs.
Believe me, we will do everything to ensure that you, if not forget it, then do not wake up every morning with this misfortune, the President noted.
