Putin denies information about meeting with Durov in Baku

Russian President Vladimir Putin has denied reports of a meeting with Telegram founder Pavel Durov during his recent visit to Azerbaijan.

The head of the Russian state made a corresponding statement on September 5 at the Eastern Economic Forum.

Putin's words are quoted by MIA "Russia Today" .

What Putin said about Durov

The Russian president said he never maintained contact with the founder of Telegram and did not meet him during his visit to Azerbaijan.

“I don’t really understand why we need to meet in Baku, ” said the head of the Russian state, noting that he didn’t even know that Durov was in Baku.

Putin clarified that he met with Durov once many years ago in Moscow.

I meet with business people regularly, and he was at one of the meetings in the Kremlin at the time, the Russian president explained.
