Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the United States should not joke with Russia's red lines on the Ukrainian issue.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry made this statement on September 4 in a comment to journalist Pavel Zarubin.
The video was published on Zarubin's Telegram channel.
What Lavrov said about red lines
Answering a question about the prospects of transferring missiles for American F-16 fighters to Ukraine, the head of Russian diplomacy noted that Washington is well aware of where Moscow’s red lines are.
They must understand that they should not joke about our red lines, the minister said.
According to him, Washington is beginning to lose its sense of mutual deterrence with Moscow, and this is dangerous.
He drew attention to the statement by the coordinator of strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, about the need to carefully increase support for Kyiv so as not to provoke a third world war, because Europe would suffer.
That is, they have a genetic conviction that no one will touch them, ” Lavrov stated, noting that this destroys all the principles on which agreements on strategic stability are based.
According to the head of the Russian diplomatic department, Washington, egged on by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, has already crossed the threshold that it set for itself in the issue of arms supplies to Kyiv.
At the same time, Lavrov expressed confidence that there are still reasonable people in the United States who have a certain amount of influence.
And I hope that the interests of the United States will be taken into account, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry summed up.
Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that the supply of new weapons to Ukraine, including the F-16, although it will prolong the conflict, will not change the situation on the front.
The head of the Russian state also stated that if the F-16s appear in the Ukrainian army, they will burn just like other advertised Western equipment.
