The dog is trying to understand you
Dogs can understand the meaning of certain words and the intonation with which they are spoken. Perhaps your pet tilts his head to the side because he wants to catch the words, phrases, and intonations of your voice.
The dog wants to focus on your voice
Dogs have excellent hearing, but they are worse than humans at determining the source and location of sounds. This has led to a theory that tilting their heads helps pets better determine where a voice is coming from.
The dog needs to get a better look at you.
Because of the shape of its muzzle, the dog is unable to fully see the face of the person talking to it. That is why it has to tilt its head to see what is happening around it.
The dog knows that it looks cute
Your dog may not realize that this gesture is attractive, but he definitely senses your positive reaction to it and will therefore repeat the gesture over and over again to gain your approval.
