If you are faced with a problem such as a cat climbing on the table, do not rush to solve it through punishment.
More precisely, even like this: never punish your pet.
The most you can do is spray it with water from a spray bottle or clap your hands loudly when you notice it attempting to climb into a place it doesn’t belong, but even such methods should not be used, since the pet may change its attitude towards you (not for the better).
Instead of creating negative associations with yourself, the owner, try to evoke the same emotions in the animal regarding the forbidden place. Here's how to do it.
Foil
Spread on a table, cupboard or anywhere else, the rustling sound of foil will surely scare a curious cat.
Water
To prevent your cat from jumping on the table, leave a container of water there – for example, a baking tray filled with liquid. It is unlikely that he will want to get his paws wet.
Smell
Cats don't like strong smells: to discourage them from jumping on the table, place fresh lemon or orange peels there or wipe the countertop with citrus essential oil.
Scotch
Cover the surface with strips of double-sided tape or make a sticky frame by attaching small pieces of tape to the edges. Cats will not wander where their paws touch something sticky. Plus, your pet will have to lick herself for a long time to get rid of the glue marks.
