Even if it seems like your dog is in a state of bliss, this may not actually be the case.
For this reason, every dog owner should become familiar with the signals that their pet gives to communicate stress or discomfort.
1. Try leaning towards your dog. If the animal looks away after looking at you, this may be a sign that it is uncomfortable and trying to avoid eye contact.
2. If after your kiss the dog yawns tensely - this is the first sign of stress. Yawning does not always indicate fatigue - sometimes it is a way of self-soothing, which many resort to in a tense situation.
3. If you notice that your dog is slowly licking its lips, this may indicate that your pet is trying to calm down and is giving you a signal that it needs to stop.
4. A dog that frequently presses its ears back wants to distance itself from the situation. This behavior can be perceived as a sign of discomfort in communication.
5. When a dog gets up and walks away, many people perceive this as a sign of dissatisfaction. However, in reality, this may be their way of avoiding an unpleasant situation.
For reference
A dog is a domestic animal, one of the most popular (along with a cat) companion animals.
