Why the cat suddenly froze and began to stare at one point: an unexpected explanation

Almost every person who has a cat at home has more than once noticed one strange moment in the behavior of their four-legged friend.

Thus, the pet may suddenly freeze and start looking at one point for a very long time.

In this case, the owner of the animal has a question: "I wonder what the furry one on the wall/wallpaper/furniture is so interested in? There doesn't seem to be anything special there!"

Many people find various mystical explanations for a cat's prolonged gaze "into the void."

Be aware: it is unlikely that “spirits” or “ghosts” have entered the cat’s field of vision.

The pet's strange behavior is explained in a completely different way.

Why does a cat stare at one point for a long time?

Many cat owners forget that a cat's main senses are hearing and smell, and not sight.

If a furry creature suddenly freezes and starts looking “into space,” then the animal most likely just wants to concentrate on sounds and smells.

At such moments, the animal's vision "fades into the background." In other words, the pet does not try to see anything at all.

But attempts to hear or smell something are certainly being made.

What should a cat owner do in such a situation?

The main rule is: "Don't touch the cat and don't disturb him."

Let your four-legged friend continue to focus on sounds and smells: he probably hears and feels things that you cannot catch.

Perhaps the animal realized that there was a rat somewhere nearby.

But before you leave your pet alone, make sure that your purr is absolutely safe.
