Not only people suffer from the heat, but also their pets.
To avoid tiring you with a long text, we will list here the most important tips for caring for a dog in hot weather.
About drinking
Do not give your dog ice water to drink – the temperature of the drinking water should be slightly cooler than room temperature.
Don't try to "shove" as much water into your dog as possible - as a result, your pet's belly will swell, which will make it less mobile and resilient.
Dogs that eat dry food drink more water, while those that are kept on natural food drink less.
If it is hot outside, change your dog's water as often as possible, as it may spoil and as a result the dog will get bacterial poisoning.
About walks
Don't go for a walk in the middle of the heat - it's bad for both of you. Instead, move your walks to early morning and late evening.
If you need to walk your dog during the day, keep the time outside to a minimum – return home immediately after relieving yourself. If possible, stay in the shade with your pet.
And finally: do not pour ice water on your dog, do not keep it under the air conditioner all the time (unless the dog is very sick or very old) and do not shave the hair of furry dogs bald.
