You should change your cat's food without delay only if it is harmful to the animal's health.
In other cases, it is worth acting gradually, since the consequences of a sudden change in food can be unpredictable.
First of all, introduce your pet to its new food. To do this, offer a little food from your palm – this way you will help the cat trust the “new thing”.
If the cat has not shown interest, do not rush to throw away the packaging - it happens that it needs time to walk around, sniff and think.
The scheme for replacing old food with new food looks like this.
During the first two days, the contents of the cat's bowl should consist of 75% of the old food and 25% of the new, on the third and fourth days - 50 to 50, on the fifth to sixth days put 25% of the old food and 75% of the new, and on the seventh day you can give only the new food.
And one last piece of advice: if the reason for changing food is not related to the animal’s health, try to buy products from the same brand.
Fortunately, most manufacturers have a range of foods that can meet any cat's needs.
