Hydrogen peroxide will help remove old and fresh stains, as well as animal odor and marks.
Mix half a glass of hydrogen peroxide with one glass of water, apply to the stain and rinse with water. Put the mattress in the sun to dry completely.
Another folk remedy is alcohol or vodka. They disinfect the surface and help wean a cat or dog from leaving marks.
