Getting your dog used to wearing a muzzle requires patience and time, as this process is not quick.
It includes six mandatory steps.
Getting to know the muzzle
Allow your dog to explore the muzzle so that he can sniff it and "feel" it.
Creating positive associations
Use treats and praise to create positive associations with the muzzle.
Getting used to wearing
Once the dog begins to accept the accessory favorably, begin to gradually accustom it to wearing the muzzle - first put it on for a short period of time, and then increase the time it is worn.
Gradually increase the time the muzzle is worn
Gradually increase the time the dog wears the muzzle, providing breaks and rewards for patience and good behavior.
Developing a new team
Introduce a new command that the dog must perform only when the muzzle is put on. For example, "Give me your muzzle" - thanks to this command, it will be easier for you and the animal will understand what will happen next.
Repetition and consistency
Repeat these steps and be consistent to help your dog get used to the muzzle and wear it comfortably.
Earlier we talked about what it means if a cat lies down next to a person’s head.
