Where to Buy a Pet: A Hint – Just Not at a Pet Store

14.03.2024 08:38

If you decide to buy a pet, you have truly impressive opportunities, because pets are sold everywhere: on the Internet, in pet stores, at exhibitions and even markets.

Market and pet shop

This is not your option, as there is a high probability of acquiring a sick animal. Puppies and kittens, as a rule, do not have vaccinations and can be infected with various diseases and parasites.

Classifieds sites

The Internet is also not a safe place to buy animals. There are many dealers who do not care about the health of the animals. They may pretend to be breeders and offer to meet you in neutral places to bring you sick pets.

If you decide to buy an animal through an ad site, it is best to visit the breeder's house and look not only at your future pet, but also at its parents.

Upon arrival, look around, ask the breeder to show the documents of the parents and the baby. Carefully examine the kitten or puppy. It should be active, well-fed, have clean eyes, ears, mouth, skin and be free of parasites.

If you are concerned about the animal's condition or the breeder's words, then refuse to buy it.

Cat and dog shows

As a rule, purebred animals with documents and vaccinations that have passed veterinary control are presented at exhibitions. However, there is one nuance: when buying at an exhibition, you should take into account the age of the animal.

Nurseries and clubs

These are the safest places to buy animals. The pets' parents undergo a medical examination, vaccination, matings are planned, and the offspring are properly cared for. Animals are sold with documents and a sales contract.
