The transition should be gradual if you want to change your pet's food. A smooth transition will be easier on the animal's body.

If you ignore this rule, there is a risk that your cat or dog will simply stop eating.

The first two days, portions should be made up of 75% of the old food and 25% of the new food. Then the amount of the new food should be increased first to 50%, and then to 75% and 100%.

The transition should take about a week. You need to gradually mix the new food with the old one. If the animal has allergies, gastrointestinal problems, the process may take longer. In this case, it is better to consult a veterinarian.

The same scheme should be followed if you want to transfer the animal to completely natural food. But in this case, you need to take into account that the pet's new diet is balanced and healthy.

When switching to a new type of food, it is important to monitor the animal's condition.

If appetite is lost, vomiting occurs, or any changes in appearance are observed (inflammation, hair loss), then the diet should be reviewed.

With an individual reaction of the body, a smoother transition is necessary. You cannot do without a personal consultation with a doctor, when all the features of the cat's or dog's condition are taken into account.
