Animals do not appear in our apartments by accident.
This applies equally to such inhabitants of our homes as spiders that have settled under the bathtub – unless, of course, it is your favorite tarantula or tarantula that has escaped from the terrarium.
In other cases, this creature is your friend who came to your aid. A spider that crawled out from under the bathtub indicates possible serious problems in everyday life and the microclimate of the house.
So, if spiders have appeared in the house, it means that suitable conditions have been created for them in the form of food and shelter.
Shelter is, of course, furniture and plumbing, but what about food?
The spider feeds on insects and other small animals. There are two types of spiders that can appear in the house: those that create webs (for example, phaulcus) and those that hunt without using a web (for example, wolf spiders).
If we talk about a spider crawling out from under the bathtub, it is probably a wolf, since pholkus rarely leave their web.
The wolf spider has to hunt for its prey by crawling after it. Under the bathtub, it can catch silverfish, woodlice and other small insects, and they, in turn, appear in a damp and musty environment and carry mold, bacteria and other dangerous microflora.
Therefore, the spider “signals” 3 troubles at once.
1. Check the floor and walls for cracks through which living creatures can get into the apartment from the basement. If you find any, seal them.
2. Excessive humidity often appears as a result of leaking pipes – the plumbing also needs to be checked and repaired.
3. Finally, to avoid mustiness, as a homeowner, you should check the ventilation ducts for blockages. If they are clogged, clean them. If the existing system is ineffective, consider installing forced-air ventilation. This will help prevent stagnant air and related problems such as humidity and mold.
