During one of the waves of the pandemic of a new type of coronavirus infection, scientists began to report that a dog could detect a person infected with SARS-CoV-2.

The topic has spread beyond the pandemic. For example, it has become known that dogs can detect other diseases, such as diabetes.

In particular, Swedish researchers believe that dogs act as an indicator, promptly signaling the development of a particular disease in a person.

How does it happen?

Scientists conducted an interesting experiment, during which they studied the health of more than 208 thousand dog owners and over 123 thousand cat owners.

In each case, the diagnosis was diabetes in pet owners.

It turned out that having a diagnosis of diabetes in a dog was associated with a 38% risk of the owner developing diabetes.

Another kind of connection was also discovered. A dog could also become diabetic if a person was diagnosed first.

According to the researchers, the reason should be sought in gastronomic habits.

It is possible that in the cases indicated they may turn out to be identical.

This means that dogs can both reflect their owner's behavior patterns and warn of deteriorating health.
