Vomiting in a cat is, at first glance, a completely natural phenomenon associated with cleansing the body of hair eaten during washing.
But should we ignore every such case for this reason, or is it still worth going to the vet for clarification in some situations?
Cats are very strange creatures in this regard: if something gets into their mouth, they will definitely swallow it, regardless of its size and length. Several meters of thread, toys, and Lego pieces have been pulled out of a cat's intestines more than once, writes Veterinary Science and Life, citing specialist Olga Sitkovskaya.
If a cat vomits
First, you need to look under your pet's tongue. It is possible that there is a thread, another small detail, or even a coin there.
Secondly, you need to think about a sudden change of food. A cat can start vomiting even because of high-quality food, but this does not mean that it is bad.
You just need to feed in small portions.
Thirdly, vomiting can be caused by the animal’s illness.
Common diseases include diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, and pancreas.
Also, one must not forget about infectious diseases, the presence of parasites in the animal’s body, or the use of medications.
When to see a doctor
You should not delay a visit to the veterinarian if the causes have been eliminated, but vomiting continues for several days or weeks.
