If you have ever observed cat behavior, you may have noticed that some animals have a habit of gently touching their owner (or another person) with their furry paw.
Why do cats do this? Let's find out together.
Socialization
Cats are known to be social animals and use touch to communicate.
Cats can use their paws to express their feelings and emotions: love, fear, curiosity. For example, if a kitten gently touches a person’s hand, it most likely wants to demonstrate its affection and trust.
Grooming
Another well-known fact is that cats constantly take care of their fur.
When they touch their owner with their paws, they may simply be stroking his hair or clothes. This behavior should be considered as a manifestation of care, so the cat shows that it considers the person part of its family.
Territory
Finally, furry pets can use their paws to mark their owner as their property. This is especially true for unneutered cats, who use this method to communicate their rights to ownership of territory.
However, even neutered cats can behave this way, especially if they are stressed or insecure.
