A dog's howling causes discomfort to the pet's owner, to the family members of that person, and to his neighbors.
But that's not the worst thing. A drawn-out sound made by a pet may indicate a serious problem with the animal.
If the howling is too frequent, it is possible that the dog is in pain, scared, or lonely.
To restore silence in the house, you need to find the reason why the dog is howling.
The dog is lonely
Does the dog only howl when he is left alone at home? In this case, everything is explained simply: the four-legged friend thinks that he has been “abandoned”, and therefore makes loud sounds, which the neighbors complain about.
In such a situation, the dog needs to be accustomed to loneliness. Training and the use of tasty rewards will certainly help to achieve the desired result.
The dog is bored
Does your pet howl even when there are people in the apartment? Then analyze how often you interact with your pet.
If you rarely pay attention to your dog and seem to ignore it, then don’t be surprised by the reaction of your four-legged friend.
Try to "communicate" with your pet more often. Or at least buy him more toys.
The dog is scared
Pets are afraid of loud sounds. First of all, we are talking about fireworks and loud music. Howling is the standard reaction of an animal to such situations.
Try to ensure that the dog hears these sounds as little as possible. Reduce the volume on the speakers, avoid shouting and talking in raised tones.
The dog wants to eat or drink
Feelings of hunger or thirst can also cause a dog to howl.
Start feeding your pet more often. Has the howling stopped? This means the source of the problem has been eliminated.
The dog got sick
Another common reason why a dog howls constantly is health problems: perhaps the pet is in pain.
If you know for sure that the dog is not howling because of loneliness, fear or hunger, then immediately show the animal to the veterinarian.
