If your cat has just eaten dinner but rushes headlong into the kitchen upon hearing the rustling of a bag of food, it is unlikely that he is doing so because he is hungry.
It is quite possible that the causes of eating disorders lie in the animal’s psyche.
1. Lack of owner's attention
If you spend little time with your cat and do not play with it at all, it becomes bored. The animal begins to use all sorts of methods to attract the attention of its owner, including begging for food.
The solution is simple: increase the amount of time you spend together and introduce your pet to new things, smells, spaces, etc.
2. Severe stress
A false feeling of hunger also occurs if the cat is in a state of stress for a long time.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to correct the situation without eradicating the causes that led to stress. At the same time, work on creating a comfortable atmosphere for your pet.
3. Competition
Animals, like people, consume food at their own pace. If you are the lucky owner of two or more pets, one of them may copy the behavior of the other, who eats everything in his bowl with gusto.
Try feeding your favorites separately for a while - at least for a couple of weeks. This will help eliminate competition based on imitation.
4. Hungry Past
If, for example, you picked up a cat from the street, where it was forced to starve for some time, it is not surprising that it will passionately crave food.
To reassure your cat that she will no longer go hungry and to prevent overeating, feed her food on a schedule, 4-5 times a day in small portions.
