Syrian hamsters are often kept as pets, and a significant role in this popularity was played by the fact that these creatures are able to quickly get used to hands and do not show aggression without reason.

But, like any other animal, the Syrian hamster is not a toy, and therefore you should learn more about it if you are going to become its owner.

1. Just not in a couple

While some pets are recommended to be kept in pairs, for others such conditions are contraindicated. Syrian hamsters belong to the latter category.

These animals are considered solitary, and you can be sure that they will make every effort to protect their territory from interference. This means that coexistence of Syrian hamsters is impossible without fights.

2. Night creatures

Future owners of a Syrian hamster should be prepared for the fact that their pet will sleep during the day, but at night will show itself in all its glory - it will start gnawing on the cage, eating, running and showing other types of activity.

3. Living conditions

When choosing a home for your pet, make sure that its area is at least 60x40 cm. In addition, you will have to buy a wheel, ladders, pipes or labyrinths so that the animal does not get bored. It is easier with the filler - any sawdust (pressed or regular) will do for this role.

4. Balanced nutrition

To ensure that your hamster can boast excellent health, take care of the animal's proper diet. It should include grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as clean and fresh water.

5. Diseases

Unfortunately, Syrian hamsters are susceptible to various diseases. And if you want such a union to last longer, do not ignore visits to the vet.
