Sometimes (we hope not often), due to the lack of a special carrier, cat owners place their pets in a shopping or travel bag in order to go outside the apartment with them.
It is strictly forbidden to do this, and here's why.
Firstly, such a bag does not have special ventilation holes, which is why your pet may feel suffocated.
Secondly, such a bag does not have a rigid frame. This means that the cat can get injured.
And thirdly: you will definitely find yourself in an awkward situation if your pet decides to go to the toilet – due to stress, fear, or simply because the journey was too long.
However, transporting the animal in your arms is also not an option.
In a state of panic, even a normally calm cat can start to break free. Keeping such an animal under control is not an easy task.
If you don't have a carrier and want to save money, the only suitable option in this case is a household basket, which can be found in hardware stores under the name of a vegetable basket or a picnic basket. It is usually cheaper than a carrier from a pet store.
