Many dog owners wonder, looking at how their pets are diligently clicking their jaws - why does a dog need to catch flies at all?

Is the animal really so hungry that it is trying to satisfy its raging appetite in this way?

In fact, there is no connection between a dog catching flies and food.

The reason is the presence of a hunting instinct, which makes them regard all kinds of midges as potential prey.

But, since we know that flies carry many dangerous diseases on their paws, another question arises: is it dangerous for a dog to eat such “game”?

Fortunately, there is no reason to panic.

The thing is that a fly that your dog accidentally or intentionally swallows is very quickly digested in the gastric juice, the acidity of which in dogs is much higher than in humans.

That's why we shouldn't worry about what kind of fly the dog ate - the swallowed insects won't even cause an upset stomach.
