Usually, furry pets react normally to their owners' attempts to pick them up.
In most cases, the animal does not resist and feels comfortable.
However, sometimes it happens that a cat does not show any particular desire to sit in a person’s arms.
Moreover, the owner can immediately understand that his four-legged friend is not happy.
Most often, a furry friend’s reluctance to sit in your arms is explained by one of the following reasons.
The cat is afraid
Perhaps the animal once experienced an unpleasant event associated with being held by a person.
It is possible that the pet was dropped or hurt.
The cat does not want to repeat this experience, so it does not seek to interact with the owner.
However, it is possible that there were no dangerous events, and the cat is simply afraid of heights.
The cat is in pain due to injury
There is also this option: the pet could have injured its paw.
The owner, who has not noticed this, begins to pick up the cat. The animal is in pain, so it begins to resist: make sudden movements, make sounds.
If a person admits that this is the reason, then the cat needs to be shown to a veterinarian.
The cat is picked up incorrectly
The pet can only be held in the following way: one hand of the person should be placed under the cat's front paws, the other hand should act as a support for the hind paws.
Any other method may cause pain or discomfort to your pet.
