How much water you need to give your dog per day depends largely on the weather, breed and lifestyle of your pet.
It is important to consider the quality of the water. Most dog owners make do with tap water, but is it as healthy or harmless as it seems?
The head of the Russian Cynological Federation, Vladimir Golubev, answered these and other questions in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Water quality
This is the first thing to start with.
The specialist advises filtering tap water or boiling it first. This primarily concerns water treated with chlorine.
Otherwise, it is better to use bottled water.
Quantity
Here we need to take into account a whole range of factors, such as age, breed, weather, and lifestyle.
But the average volume is calculated using the formula: 20-70 mg per kilogram of the pet’s weight.
The water should be cool. It is believed that dogs do not like water heated by the sun.
The most important thing is that the dog always has access to a source of water, and how much the pet can drink is up to him to decide.
