What are the disadvantages of Alabai: important information for those who are looking at pets of this breed

The Alabai, also known as the Central Asian Shepherd Dog, is a breed of dog that was originally used as a herder and guard dog.

Along with an impressive number of advantages, representatives of this breed also have several disadvantages that you should be prepared for if you decide to become a “foster family” for an Alabai.

Mistrust

It is not surprising that Alabai dogs are distrustful of any strangers – this trait is present in most guard breeds. Therefore, it is unlikely that your guests will feel comfortable with such “neighbors”.

Night time activity

For generations, Central Asian Shepherds did not sleep at night, as they performed the duties of night watchmen and shepherds. For this reason, their descendants are still extremely active at night.

Snore

If the Alabai falls asleep, it can be even worse than the incessant clicking of claws on the floor - most representatives of this breed snore, and so loudly that it may seem as if an airplane engine is running nearby.

Height

Because Alabai grow at a stunning rate, their muscles may not be able to keep up with the growth of their skeleton without significant exercise.

If you get a puppy, make sure it gets regular, intense exercise and a carefully selected diet.
