Not all dogs like to walk outside - some mutts are simply afraid to leave the confines of their cozy home.
There are many reasons for this – the animal’s age, illness, lack of socialization, psychological trauma, an unstable nervous system, weather conditions, uncomfortable equipment, and much more.
Therefore, the first thing a dog owner needs to do is find out the reason why the dog refuses to go for walks.
You shouldn't drag your dog outside by force if it's feeling ill or there's bad weather outside. Such a walk won't bring pleasure to either you or your pet, and the fear of the street will only increase.
If your pet doesn't want to go for a walk, irritability and anger are powerless. Try replacing them with love, care and understanding.
Make sure that the collar, clothing, shoes and other accessories do not cause discomfort to your pet.
A consultation with a veterinarian would also be useful. If the dog is easily overexcited and shows signs of nervousness over trifles, it may need sedatives, but the final decision is still up to the specialist.
Finally, don't underestimate the importance of talking, encouraging, praising and, of course, treats. Surrounded by such attention, the dog will feel much more confident.
