Why a cat doesn't sleep in a house and is it necessary at all: the most common misconception of owners

The most common misconception among pet owners is that their pet likes what they like.

For example, many people think that their cat will be delighted with a beautiful, cozy and expensive house. But in the end, the cat chooses a cardboard box.

The whole point is that a person forgets: a cat is an animal. And it has a completely non-human perception of life.

What's wrong with a small house?

1. It's stuffy and hot in the house.

Try to set up a tent in the room and live in it, leaving only a small opening so as not to suffocate. And you will understand why the cat does not want to sleep in the house.

If your pet spends the night outside in winter, it can hide in the house because it is warm there.

2. No view because there are walls around

A cat needs visibility to see if an enemy is sneaking up. It is a person who feels safe indoors.

The cat feels in danger because it cannot notice the threat in time. Remember the cats you have met on the street. They always sit or lie on an elevated surface (roof, fence, stone). The cat can lie on the grass, walk, hunt. But not sleep.

3. Feeling trapped

It is impossible to get out of the house in case of danger. This is especially true when there are children or other animals in the house.

If you want to buy your pet a house at all costs, choose one with two exits.

A house is an invention for humans. But it is better to choose a bed with sides for a cat. This way, it will be able to sleep comfortably and feel safe, being able to monitor the perimeter and quickly hide in case of danger.

What prevents a cat from using a house

There are still cats that like to use houses. But sometimes they refuse them for various reasons.

1. Inconvenient design

Cats are very demanding when it comes to comfort. Some houses may be too small or cramped, others too large and uncomfortable. In addition, the material may be unpleasant to the touch or have an unpleasant smell.

2. Bad location

Cats like places where they can observe their surroundings and feel safe. Therefore, if the house is in a noisy or "passable" place, the cat will not climb into it.

3. Not enough time to get used to it

If you've just bought a house, your cat may not understand that this is her personal space. To help your pet get used to the new property, you can put a favorite toy or a rug inside that your pet usually sleeps on.

You can buy a quality house for your cat and put it in a good place. But don't be upset that your pet doesn't use it. This is normal. The main thing is that the cat is happy. And for this, it needs the understanding and love of its owner.
