Unfortunately, no one is immune from losing a cat – even an animal that lives exclusively in an apartment can slip unnoticed through an open door.
In this case, there is no time to waste, because the chances of finding your pet are decreasing every day.
The first thing you should do is to carefully inspect all the rooms again, not ignoring the well-known hidden corners such as a closet, balcony, storage room or basement.
Don't forget to even look inside the laundry basket and take a close look at your washing machine and dryer.
If the cat is not found, go to the yard or to the territory adjacent to your apartment building. Take your cat's favorite treat and toy with you - if your pet hears the familiar rustling of the bag or sees its mouse, it is likely that it will run to you itself.
You will also need a flashlight to illuminate dark corners where your frightened pet might have hidden.
While wandering around the neighborhood, call the cat by name and listen carefully to the sounds around you - maybe the kitten climbed a tree and now can’t get down?
Ask your family and friends for help, and also ask your neighbors, showing them a photo of the animal.
If your independent search does not bring results, go to a shelter, place ads on the Internet and in a local newspaper, and post them around your area - near every house and at public transport stops.
