Why a dog's fur may turn red: is there a reason to worry

Owners of dogs whose pets have snow-white fur often notice that the hairs have become a different color - most often red, pink and yellow tones.

This discovery is certainly a cause for concern. Let's look at why this is happening.

First of all, it is worth analyzing the diet of your four-legged friend. First, you should make sure that the dog's food is of high quality, and second, make sure that it does not contain products that can affect the color of the coat.

These include beets, carrots, and seaweed, which contain a lot of copper and iodine.

In addition, the color of the coat is affected by the dog's bodily fluids, such as tears and saliva, which contain compounds called porphyrins. When they get on the coat and react with oxygen, they change its shade to pink, red or brown.

This explains the tear tracks in white animals, as well as the different shade of fur in those areas that they actively lick.

By the way, the place where the redness/pinkness occurred is also important. So, if the fur has changed color in the paw area, the probable cause may be a fungus.

The color of the fur is directly related to the health of the pet. If the color change is accompanied by other symptoms, you should show the tail to the vet.

Finally, we cannot fail to mention such a reason as the impact of the environment - sunlight or elementary dirt from puddles.
