It is believed that pets understand people well and they don’t even need words for this.
Dogs easily remember and respond to gestures and commands from their owners, but with cats things are not so smooth, although they also understand perfectly well what is what, and sometimes do what is asked of them.
We will tell you which two human gestures domestic cats understand and even respond to these commands.
English scientists worked on this issue. It turned out that one of these gestures is learned by infants aged 9-12 months.
Cats understand when the owner points with a palm or finger at a specific object.
This gesture, message or signal can be interpreted in general as something unambiguous, for example: “be here” or, as dog breeders say, “place”.
The human brain learns this gesture at the age of 9-12 months.
In addition to dogs, goats, horses and pigs can recognize this same gesture and respond to a command with the same success.
As for cats, out of 200 animals, only 9 passed the test, while the rest ignored the command.
Moreover, it turned out that 9 out of 200 cats responded to gestures when a person gave a command with a finger or palm.
The animal was required to simply approach the bowls with or without food.
