Should You Let Your Cat Hunt Cockroaches: Horrible Consequences

Cats are hunters by nature, ready to tirelessly pursue anything that moves.

Despite the fact that rodents are usually objects that arouse a cat's heightened interest, the whiskered and striped ones do not disdain insects either.

In this regard, a reasonable question arises: is it worth preventing such behavior?

We are talking, in particular, about cockroaches, since they are one of the most common household pests.

The interest of cats in this case is easily explained - these insects are rich in protein, which means that cats treat them as a very appetizing dish.

However, including such a treat in a cat's diet can lead to tragic consequences.

Firstly, cockroaches have a hard exoskeleton, which a cat cannot digest. The result is an upset stomach and vomiting.

Secondly, these parasites are exposed to insecticides, so a cat that has eaten a cockroach that has come into contact with pesticides is at risk of secondary poisoning.

And thirdly, cockroaches are carriers of many diseases that can be transmitted to your pet. In this regard, if you find the whiskered ones walking around your kitchen, you should take measures to eliminate them as soon as possible.
