Some people have a habit of petting the heads of strange dogs on the street.
Nobody knows what such human action can lead to.
By stroking a dog on the head, a person tries to establish contact with it, to show his love and care.
But dogs understand this action differently.
Wild dogs and wolves have their own interpretation of some human gestures.
If you place your paw on the head, it means that this dog is dominant over the one that is under the paw.
At this moment the dog understands that it will not win because the opponent is stronger.
Therefore, a person should not pet unfamiliar dogs, because they will understand this gesture as a desire to dominate them.
But if your dog or one that knows you reacts positively to such an action, then you can safely pet it.
Signs that will help you understand that your dog doesn’t like your actions:
- if she starts to press her ears and tail, you should remove your hands, because she is starting to get angry;
- It is better to stroke the neck, stomach and chest, that is, those places that will evoke positive emotions in the dog.
