When a kitten gets to a new home where it has been awaited for so long, it faces serious stress.

Everyone wants to play with him, show him the house, pet him. But for a small creature this is a real test, which can provoke problems in the future.

In order not to traumatize your pet, it is necessary to properly introduce it to the new home and family members.

How does getting to know a new home happen?

Imagine that you are 7 years old. You have been kidnapped, brought to a forest or another scary place, and around you there are 5 incomprehensible huge creatures that scream loudly, rattle something, lift you several meters above the ground and, apparently, try to eat you for lunch. You do not understand what is happening. You are scared.

A kitten feels roughly the same when it is torn away from its mother and familiar surroundings. It has not yet studied the world around it, does not know how to analyze events, does not know what to expect from the huge two-legged creatures that constantly “threaten” its life.

Such psychological trauma can make the animal fearful, nervous, and aggressive for life. Some individuals may have serious mental disorders, because animals, like people, have different levels of susceptibility to stressful situations. To prevent this from happening, you should accustom the kitten to new conditions very carefully.

For the first 2-3 days, the baby should be in his corner, fenced with a barrier. Give him time to explore his territory, feel safe, get used to new smells and sounds.

Do not lift the kitten off the ground unnecessarily, do not allow children to play with it for the first few days. But the baby must get used to the smell of the household, so you need to stroke it from time to time, play gently if it is interested. After 2-3 days, you can already let the kitten out to explore the house under your supervision. First one room, then another, and so on. It is important to ensure that the animal does not get hurt or hide in a place where it is difficult to get to.

At first, the kitten will explore the new territory. Do not disturb it, do not impose games, do not constantly pick it up. If you want to hold the baby, it is better to sit on the floor and take it on your lap, gently stroke it. While the cat is small, make sure that children do not run near it, since they simply will not notice it during the game, which will lead to injury, and possibly to the death of the animal. Even if a three-year-old child falls or steps on a kitten, it will end badly.

Be sure to monitor your pet's behavior. Some kittens are fearless and curious, they start playing on the second day, running around the apartment and showing with all their appearance who will soon become the master of the house. And others may need a week or more to adapt. Act based on the character of your particular pet.
