Why does a cat rub against its owner: it’s not always about love and affection

Many people enjoy having their pets rub against them.

Cats are especially prone to this kind of “interaction”.

However, such behavior should not always be perceived as a manifestation of tenderness and love on the part of the pet.

Often, a four-legged pet pursues quite pragmatic goals when it rubs against its owner.

What does this behavior mean?

If a cat constantly rubs against a person with whom it lives in the same apartment, then one should not rule out such motivation on the part of the pet: the animal is simply “marking” the territory.

The fact is that friction is one of the ways a pet “registers” its “property”.

This is explained very simply: there are glands on the sides of the animal, thanks to which the smell of the cat remains on the treated surface.

If a person still does not agree with this explanation and is sure that the cat is actually showing love, then to be sure of this, you need to look at the pet’s further behavior.

If your pet doesn’t rub against furniture, walls, etc., then it’s really a matter of affection on the part of the furry creature.
