Can a mosquito net protect a cat from falling out of a window: Attention all cat lovers

It is no secret that every pet owner strives to protect the animal from the dangers that await it.

For this purpose, many cat owners install regular mosquito nets or so-called mosquito “anti-cat” nets on their windows.

Let's find out if they really provide safety for your pet.

It turns out that any mosquito net, no matter whether it has a plastic or aluminum frame, can fly out of its external fastenings because it bends.

Even such a step as replacing plastic Z-fasteners with metal ones will not correct the situation - due to the flexibility of the mesh frame (the frame itself), the mesh as a whole, together with the canvas, easily flies out of the external Z-fasteners, thanks to which it is held on the window frame.

If there is a blow or even pressure, the net will simply bend and spring away from the window at lightning speed. The fastenings themselves will probably remain intact - the net will simply fly out of them.

And that's just one reason. The second is that cats can easily tear even new mosquito netting with their sharp claws.

What can we say about those nets that have been exposed to temperature fluctuations and ultraviolet radiation for a year or more – their strength is even less, which means they tear much faster.

Therefore, if you do not want to put the life of your beloved furry friend in danger, simply do not open the window sashes without special protective equipment or secure them, for example, by using anti-cat grilles.
