Since birds have a fast metabolism, they need a lot of food.
In winter, it is more difficult to obtain food for obvious reasons, so all hope remains on humans - it is their care that will help sparrows, bullfinches, titmice, jays, goldfinches, siskins, pikas and other birds survive.
However, not everyone knows what can be put in feeders and what is prohibited.
Thus, it is allowed to treat granivorous birds, which include tits, woodpeckers, nuthatches and others, with sunflower seeds.
Sparrows, goldfinches, pigeons and others will gladly feast on raw or boiled (without spices or oil) millet, oats, wheat, rice or dry millet.
Tits and nuthatches will not refuse finely chopped pieces of dried or raw meat (without salt) or raw lard.
In addition, the feeder is the perfect place for dried rowan, viburnum or hawthorn, maple seeds, cones, nuts and acorns.
If you have any on hand, you can use dried corn, watermelon, melon or pumpkin seeds, and even chicken eggshells.
But you shouldn’t offer bread to birds: it can cause stomach upset and other problems, which can lead to the death of the birds.
