Information has emerged about the rapid decline in the effectiveness of antibiotics.

Two phenomena could have led to this consequence.

First, people have started to go on tourist trips more often after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Second, people consume a lot of antibiotics. And they do this even when treating less serious illnesses.

The media outlet Bild writes about this.

We are once again losing the achievements of modern medicine and returning to the times before the discovery of penicillin, - MIA " Russia Today " quotes the translated remark of expert Matthias Ploetz, whose words were published in the above-mentioned German newspaper.

The authors of the publication in Bild, citing the results of one of the studies, reported on the possible serious consequences of the spread of infection caused by antibiotic-resistant microorganisms.

The authors of the article do not rule out that by the middle of this century, for the above-described reason, “more than 39 million people worldwide may die.”

The German publication emphasizes that already at present, 35,000 people die from such infections every year in the EU alone.

The situation is worsening, as the authors of the article noted, due to a shortage of antibiotics and low levels of research funding.
