The abundance of information sources does not mean that they all provide reliable information.
Because of the abundance of fakes, you can find yourself in a stupid situation. Many people therefore consciously refuse to read the news, which is also not the best decision.
West Virginia University staff have found out and explained how to distinguish lies from truth.
According to experts, people believe fakes under the influence of emotions. But all this can be corrected if you ask yourself three questions.
First question
First of all, you need to think about what the published information represents: someone’s opinion or a fact.
Even if you constantly read news from one source, this is not a reason to trust it unconditionally.
Second question
Experts advise paying attention to primary sources, official accounts and channels where information is supported by photos and videos.
It is important to remember that the authors of fakes often use archival photographs.
Third question
Before you finally give in to the emotions of what you read, you need to verify the information.
Often, under the influence of strong emotions, false information spreads rapidly.
An example could be a request for help, information about an accident, and other reasons that are most often used by scammers to obtain benefits.
