How to Talk to a Swearer: You Have Two Options

11.03.2024 09:22

While some people cannot imagine a conversation without swearing, for others swear words have been and remain a real irritant.

Therefore, we suggest that you learn how to behave correctly when talking to a swearer, so that your conversation does not end on a negative note.

First of all, it is worth understanding that communication in which swearing occasionally slips through is a conversation at a special level of intimacy. If your interlocutor starts swearing, he wants to get closer to you (or threatens you, but we will not consider this option).

On the one hand, this can't help but please, because it becomes clear that the person trusts you and likes you. On the other hand, swearing in response is simply unpleasant.

Therefore, if you are determined not to allow obscene words in your speech, do not allow them to be used at all. How to do this?

The first way is to replace all obscene words with, albeit heavy, but decent analogues, pronouncing which you do not feel ashamed. The second is to immediately say that you cannot swear because of religion or another important reason.

In addition, try to change the conversation to business or serious topics - in this case, the likelihood of hearing swearing is much lower than if you were talking about the loss of your favorite team.

You shouldn’t directly tell your opponent that you don’t like swearing, or make a remark to your interlocutor – he may consider it an insult.

To sum it up: to prevent a dialogue from turning into a stream of obscene language, you have two options. The first is to keep your distance from people who are important to you and whom you value, the second is to not communicate with other swearers.

Earlier we told youhow to fall asleep quickly and get a good night's sleep.
