Traditionally, icons are placed in the eastern or southeastern part of the house.
But it is important to keep in mind that not all rooms are suitable for their placement.
We tell you in which rooms you can place icons and in which you cannot.
Where to place icons
Icons can be placed in almost all rooms, including the bedroom and hallway (above the front door).
The exceptions are the bathroom and the pantry, where there is no place for holy images.
The most suitable place for a home iconostasis is considered to be a corner. Since ancient times, the place where the iconostasis is located has been called the red corner.
Of course, you need to focus on the size of the room; it is not necessary to arrange the iconostasis in the corner.
The shelf with icons is usually decorated with lace napkins, a lamp, and candles. On holidays, pussy willow branches and Easter eggs are placed on it.
