A resident of Minsk tried to find her dog and fell for a scam.
The criminals swindled more than 800 rubles from the woman, the press service of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee reported on Telegram.
How the scammers operated
A resident of the district contacted the Sovetskoye District Department of Internal Affairs of Minsk, having transferred more than 800 rubles to scammers.
A woman's dog has gone missing. The Minsk resident was actively looking for her pet, including in public groups.
Soon, an unknown person wrote to her on a social network, saying that the wanted dog was being sold through an online community.
The Minsk resident followed the link and transferred money to get the seller’s details, after which she wrote to him.
The seller threatened to harm the dog and demanded that the money be transferred.
Then the woman received another message from an unknown person. She said that the person who had taken possession of the dog was a sadist.
Fearing for her pet, the Minsk resident transferred the required amount, but the fraudster demanded more money.
The woman realized that she had become a victim of fraud and contacted the police. A criminal case was opened.
