Residents of the Belarusian capital, who tried to buy caviar, New Year trees and some other goods through social networks, lost a total of over 13,000 rubles.

And the citizen who lost the most was the one who wanted to buy caviar in this way. He was left without 12,000 rubles.

Moreover, in the last 24 hours alone, the Soviet District Department of Internal Affairs of Minsk received 4 calls regarding the theft of money.

All the statements are related to purchases of non-existent goods through social networks, the press service of the capital's police said on its Telegram channel.

One of the victims noticed an advert on a social network about the sale of Christmas trees.

I believed in the reality of the online store because its page had many subscribers and positive reviews.

And the “seller”, in order to appear absolutely convincing, provided the woman with documents for the artificial trees.

However, he demanded a 100% prepayment. As soon as he received the money, he stopped communicating, and the Minsk resident never received her tree.

Another victim saw an offer on a social network to sell caviar at a price below market value.

He also agreed to make a 100% advance payment for the goods.

The man was also offered to take part in a promotion, according to which for every kilo of caviar purchased he would receive another half kilo for free.

As a result, the victim paid more than 12,000 rubles for a wholesale batch of goods, the department noted.

After receiving the money, the seller blocked the buyer's account and deleted the correspondence.

The villains deceived other residents of Minsk using approximately the same schemes. Criminal cases have been opened on the basis of these facts of fraud.
