On October 4, the Criminal Division of the Minsk City Court issued a verdict in the criminal case on the terrorist attack committed on the territory of the Machulishchi military airfield.
The perpetrator of the terrorist attack, Ukrainian citizen N.V. Shvets, was sentenced to 25 years of imprisonment.
The Prosecutor General's Office supported the state prosecution in the Minsk City Court in a criminal case against 12 individuals, including those involved in the act of terrorism on the territory of the Machulishchi military airfield, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Belarus said in a statement .
The perpetrator and accomplices are charged with committing crimes of an extremist and terrorist nature.
Found guilty
Ukrainian citizen Shvets N.V., as well as Azarov A.A., Yakutik V.K. and Demin M.M. were found guilty of committing an act of terrorism and intentionally rendering an air transport vehicle unusable (Part 3 of Article 289, Part 4 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).
Azarov A. A., Demin M. M., Yakutik V. K., Sokolov D. V., Tochitskaya E. L., Loparev S. A. and Lopatin M. A. were found guilty of treason to the state (Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).
Shvets N.V., Yatsuta A.N. and Sychev O.I. – for carrying out intelligence activities (Article 358-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).
Shvets N.V. – found guilty of undergoing training and other preparation for participation in terrorist activities, illegal trafficking of explosives and explosive devices (Part 4 of Article 295, Article 290-3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).
Yakutik V.K., Sokolov D.V., Stepurko A.A., Pilko A.A., Lopatin M.A., Tochitskaya E.L., Loparev S.A. and Sychev O.I. were found guilty of financing terrorist and extremist activities (Article 290-1, Article 361-2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).
They were also found guilty of participating in an extremist group (Part 3 of Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus) and active participation in actions that grossly violate public order (Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).
Sentence
The court sentenced the perpetrator of the terrorist attack, Ukrainian citizen Shvets N.V., to 25 years of imprisonment.
The remaining defendants in the case were sentenced to imprisonment for terms ranging from 2 years and 3 months to 15 years.
